Argumentative essay is one of the types of academic style papers that is used to outline and prove the particular thesis of the author. In other words, the writer has to study the topic thoroughly by gathering the relevant statistics and facts to make his or her point of view clearer and better for the readers. You can read more about it on the website.

The main features of an argumentative essay

The difference of this type of academic paper from the majority of others is that the author not only has his or her own point of view but also tries to prove it to the readers, reassuring them. Argumentative essay is a common assignment for the students in school and colleges because writing it develops the skill of persuasion, regardless of the writer’s attitude to the topic. In other words, you may not agree with the topic, but you have to be able to persuade the readers in it with your text.

    Types of argumentative essays

    • Two-point argumentative essay. The author has to present two theses and supports them with the facts and statistics. In the second part, he or she should prove the counter arguments are wrong.
    • Two-point refutation essay is quite similar to the previous type, but the author begins with the refusal of the counterarguments and then presents his or her theses.
    • Combined type. In this case, the author does not divide counterarguments and theses, but gives them together. The point is that the writer’s statements should prove the counter statements wrong.

At the end of the day, all the types of argumentative essays are similar in their core. The author should not only present and prove his or her point of view but also study every counterargument to show that they are wrong. Persuading the readers can be a difficult task sometimes.
