Encouraging Homeschooled Kids to be More Active

Do your kids spend a lot of time on phones and laptops? It can be hard getting them active, especially if you are at work during the day. Unfortunately, that life can be unhealthy for your child. Kids need exercise to remain fit. And when they are homeschooled, they do not have the option of extracurricular activities to make them fit. So, how can you encourage your child to get moving? Here are some ideas.

    Emphasize Fun

Kids like having fun. If you suggest anything that sounds boring to them, they switch off. Look for things the kids will enjoy while staying active. Do your kids love dancing? Then sign them up for active online dancing for homeschoolers. Not only will this improve their skills, but they will also have fun. The more your child likes an activity, the higher the chance of being dedicated to it.

    Be a Role Model

Kids easily learn from their parents. If you spend your time staring at a screen the whole day, they will do the same thing. You can motivate them to get out of the house by doing so. Take your kid for a walk, go jogging, or bike riding. You do not even have to do this every day. Three times a week will help both of you.

Let Them Join You in the Kitchen

Allowing the kids to help you out will keep them active for 30 minutes to an hour. Let them help you bake, make pancakes, or meals. Also, look for those healthy snacks that kids can make. Kids are likely to enjoy those healthy meals if they are the ones that prepared them. You will have an extra set of hands to help you out, and you will also have managed to get them active.

Unlike schools where kids are offered co-curricular activities to get them active, home school kids do not have many options. As a parent, you have to take the initiative and find activities that will get your child to move around.
