Submitting Trailers for the Main site

If you would like to submit a trailer for us to consider, you need to do the following:

  • Email either Dr. Kenny or Glenda Gunter with your request.
  • We will respond to you withing 24-48 hours. If accepted we will send you specifications as to file formats, length and a copyright release.
  • Once accepted, we will direct you to our Easy Uploader page where you can get it to us online. If it is in .flv format, it will be added to the site after we generate some text and background information about the book. It would be quite helpful if you could supply us with the ISBN number that you worked from. If you have Lexile information , that would help speed things up.
  • If you would rather send something via mail, our address is:
    Robert Kenny, Ph.D.
    Florida Gulf Coast University
    10501 FGCU Blvd South
    Ft Myers, Fl 33965-6565

We have decided to approach the upload process in this way so as to make Digital Booktalk a web safe community for you and your students.

Videos submitted for consideration on the main site need to follow a certain set of specifications We are trying to hold the line on these videos , as they serve as exemplars of the process of re-enacting the essence of the books. There is no right or wrong answer as to what your individual interpretations are, but that your students act out at least a portion of the scenes.

Note that ALL CONTENT ON THE VIDEOS SUBMITTED TO THE MAIN SITE MUST BE FREE OF COPYRIGHT VIOLATIONS. THE EASIEST WAY ENSURE THAT IS TO USE ORIGINAL CONTENT, UNLESS YOU CAN GET CLEARANCE FROM ITS OWNERS. WE WILL ASK YOU TO AFFIRM THAT ALL CONTENT ON THE VIDEOS YOU SEND ARE COPY FREE AND/OR ORIGINAL.

Submitting videos to the Newbies Corner

If you would like us to link to your videos at a site that you control, or the video is something you would like to share but did not have the chance to create a trailer that is an actual reenactment, you can use our Newbie’s Page.

Because we have placed this page behind a password, we are better position to follow “Fair Use” rules. We are also not as strict regarding the re-enactment principles. As you will see, many of the videos are moving picture books with student voice overs and background music. These can be wonderful experiences for your students and welcome your submissions. Simply submit the Form found on the Newbie’s Corner page and we will take a look. Again, we are doing it in this way so as to preserve the School safe atmosphere of the site.
